Craigs list killers

http://www.cnn.com/video/#/video/crime/2010/01/10/bolduan.sex.offenders.cnn

My article was about a young man who made an add on craigs list selling himself, a woman bought it and she went to the hotel and he killed her. They say that he first took about 1000 dollars in cash and gift cards then killed her. They say that this isnt the only girl that he has met online, he met another girl and robbed her.

I think that this is really weird, I mean why would someone feel so strong about someone over the internet that you would meet them in real life, in a hotel room. I think that this is really interesting.

This article is about a lady in Colorado Springs died while giving birth to what I would call a Christmas present. Her husband Mike Hermanstorfer stood next to the bed as he held her arm, he said it was cold and ashy. The Colorado Springs hospital had called a code blue. The baby was born and had somewhat of a regular pulse but was okay. Minutes after the boy was born Mikes wife came back to life gasping for air.

I personally think that this story is really interesting because I have no clue what it would be like to almost lose two people and then have them come back to me. In the article they said this happens to every 8 in about 100,000 woman in America. I think that this article is very popular because it is something that is so rare and its also odd. I mean its not everyday that you hear of someones heart completely stopping for more than 5 minutes and then just come back to breathing.

Song: Run This Town (NO CELINGS MIXTAPE)
Artist: Lil Wayne
Genre: Rap
Time period: 2009
Issue: Gun Violence
Song artists point of view: The song artist says in his song "My pistol means business." I think that Lil Waynes point of view on gun violence is the negative. I think that he saying that he is all about gun violence and that he is not scared to use a gun.
In the song he says "my pistol mean business."
The only contextual factors that I could think of is the economic depression that we are going through but I do not think that this would cause Lil Wayne to talk about guns, even if the economy was good I still think he would be talking about gun and gun violence.

Gun violence has really grown in the last ten years. This is really easy to see in the graph above. I think that gun violence is something that is really a problem in Waterloo Ia. Gun violence around us has especially grown, with over 20 shootings this last summer. In July alone there was 15 shootings and 5 people were arrested. The police want the community to help out, when your kids come home know what they have in their rooms and what they are doing at all times. The police say that this is starting a young age and this will continue to happen unless parents start to care! The community of Waterloo and surrounding cities is directly effected by this because you won't be able to go outside without feeling safe if you know that you could be shot. The issue is getting worse year by year with more killings. I think that we really need to take a stand and try to stop gangs and gun violence! (KWWL.COM)

My opinion is opposite of what the artist thinks.. I don't believe that having a gun and talking with it is very safe or cool at all. I think that there are a lot of people in Waterloo that carry a gun just for compfort and because they think its cool.

UNI assulted student

http://www.northern-iowan.org/news/assaulted-student-speaks-out-against-crime-1.2093561

This article is about a Student at the University of Northern Iowa that was assaulted and made fun of. He said that he entered a party and exited the bathroom where other students yelled racial slurs and hit him. He said that he left. The article talks about how after the first incident dent Rapeople proceeded to call his phone and leave hateful messages. The stumon Cantu said that he was scheduled to go to a meeting and he got a message saying that he better not show up otherwise he would be risking his life. He said that over 100 students and teachers Including the president of UNI showed up at a silent protest outside of the UNI fountains.

This is news because it is something that our community should be aware of and it directly effects our college community. What could turn out because of this? This is also one of those things that students will want to be aware of.

I think that this article is very interesting. I didn't know that stuff like this was happening around me. I guess its one of those things that you might hear about and not think much of it, but if you think about it most school shootings happen because of stuff like this. Harassment and racial slurs. I think that this helps the school get a grip on whats going on and could try to prevent it. I think that its better that they know about it before it turns into something bigger than it already is.

1. My thoughts are, how could anyone do this to their own country? Their own people? I mean even if people were giving you a hard time, you don't go and kill 13 people and injure another 30. From reading the article it seems as if he wasn't very social. It was hard for him to make friends, and he didn't have a girlfriend.

2. I think that maybe race had something to do with it, but I wouldn't go as far as to say that it was an act of terrorism. Sure there was some harassment towards him and his race. But personally I don't think that it was an act of terrorism because you would have to say that acts of terrorism happen a lot in Waterloo with gangs... I think that gangs piss other gangs off and then they shoot, I think its just frustration and unfortunately this is how he got rid of it.

3. Racism played a big role in this shooting because his aunt says that after 9/11 people would give him crap because of his race, and it would make him really mad. I think that everyone pointing him out on the base he got frustrated and I do think it is because of race.

4. Yes I think that a lot of Muslim Americans have the same feelings but I don't think they are as serious. I think that when they go out in public people are looking at them as they are not one of us. I think that they feel this way especially in airports, I know that when I go to an airport and I see a middle eastern man I automatically think 9/11.

5. I don't think the military could have done anything to prevent this. I think that the most they could do was prevent harassment, but then again these are grown men and they should be able to be mature by themselves. I'm sure that there was some little things that could help to prevent it but I do not think that this situation could be prevented as a whole. I don't think that there were signs that this man would do something like this, if their was I'm sure the military would have seen it and done something about it.

6. She had the ability to go up to him and stop him. Even though she was shot three times she still did what she was determined to do. I don't think that I would go towards the gunman, I would run and try to get out of there to prevent getting myself shot.

7. It says a lot, I think that most Americans think that just becuase they commited this act against our country in 2001 they are all bad. But I think that they think America is really against them, but really we were just against what a group of people did. Every time something like this happens its going to be a big deal just because the person who opened fire is museum.

1. It covers many areas of leadership it talks about planning, staying true to your values, overcoming obstacles, committing to excellence, associating with the right people, managing time, and taking action.

2. The author is talking to anyone that wants to be successful, he is telling you 7 successful things people do every day. He is just letting us know how to be better.

3. Its going to affect people that WANT to make a change, and read the article thoroughly. If you do these things than you can make a change.

4.Its important because it is helping you find out more about how to be successful, and usually when your a leader you want to be successful.

Headbutting

1. This is very disturbing, why would someone do such a thing? The video isn't as clear as I thought it would be. It doesn't look as bad but clearly by looking at the picture it was bad.
2. I think that you should play by the rules. Clearly you cannot do what this young man did. I think that tackling someone in football is an expectation, but if you walked up to someone and tackled them in the parking lot its different. In football you are going to expect to be hit, but a normal citizen isn't going to expect to be tackled.
3. Victim- As the victim I could not be very happy. But I don't think I would want all this media attention for getting headbutted in a football game. I think this is one of those negative media attention. I don't think I would have made a big deal about it. I mean I think that the other guy should have gotten the two day suspension maybe even more.
Criminal- This would be one of those things that may have seemed like a good idea at the time, but I would feel way bad afterwords. I mean its a good hit, there was no need for me to take his helmet off and headbutt him. There isn't much I can do about the situation, It's clearly on tape and all I can do is wait it out and hope for the best. I don't think I deserve to be charged criminally for this.
Victims Parents- We need to get this solved now. This is not tolerable our son did not deserve this. I think that the young man who committed this act should be charged criminally. This is unacceptable.
Criminals Parents- Our kid has never done such a thing. He goes to church every week, he volunteers, The victim must of said something to set him off. I think that my son doesn't deserve such a punishment. I think that this needs to be further investigated to see if harassment was happening before hand.
Police- We are currently not releasing any information, what you know is what you know. Obviously this is a tough situation and this kid did not deserve what happened to him. We will investigate and make the right decisions upon the situation.
Team mates of victim- If I was a team mate I think that I would fight the kid, I don't care if I got suspended, I think that this was wrong and I wouldn't want to see one of my team members down. This is stupid, why headbutt him?
Team mates of criminal- If I was a team mate of the criminal I would feel bad for the other kid, no one deserves to be headbutted, even if they aren't on my team.
The coach- This is unlike one of my players. We have trained to hard this season to have something like this happen. This kid is a good kid, he gets good grades, and meets all my expectations. We all get a little frustration and unfortunately he took it out the wrong way. I would like to apologize to the young man who was injured and his family.
The athletic Director- As of now we have suspended him for two games and that is the most that the school will be doing at this point. From here on out we will have a NO TOLERANCE policy on unsportsmanlike on the field, weather this be in practice or in a game.
